Thank you for your interest in adding to the character of the Historic Brewers Hill Neighborhood. Located just north of downtown in Milwaukee, WI, our neighborhood is socially, economically, and culturally diverse. One of two residential areas from the City of Milwaukee’s original settlement period in the mid-1800s, Brewers Hill now boasts a diverse mix of rental, owner-occupied, historic, and newly built housing options.
Our community is supported by the Historic Brewers Hill Association (HBHA), a voluntary 501c3 not-for-profit which has been serving the community since 1981. HBHA’s members devote an incredible amount of time to cultivating a safe, prosperous, and beautiful neighborhood for all. With the desire to both serve as the liaisons for residents seeking these ends and to help build relationships and neighborhood support for developers, the HBHA is requesting that developers aid the HBHA with outreach efforts to residents. This could be as simple as filling out a questionnaire (below), or as involved as speaking publicly with residents as plans develop.
The Brewers Hill neighborhood is bounded by North Avenue to the North, Pleasant Street to the South, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to the West, and Holton Street to the East. Our southeastern border ends along the riverfront. Being a Historic neighborhood close to downtown, there are regions with strict development guidelines and areas more open to a variety of projects. The HBHA has seen projects fall through in the past and would like to foster the connection that maximizes benefits for all in the future. The HBHA who can help identify all involved parties and keep residents informed through newsletters, social media, and neighborhood meetings. Answering the questionnaire beforehand and engaging with residents early can help prepare developers for the questions or concerns they might expect throughout the community engagement process.
If you are requesting to meet with the Board of Directors, we typically meet monthly. Being volunteers, we will not be convening a special board meeting to hear your request so please plan accordingly.
